Vorkommen und Beschreibung

Benzisothiazolinon gehört in die Verbindungsklasse der Isothiazolinone und ist ein weit verbreitetes Biozid. Es wird als Konservierungsstoff in Dispersionsfarben, Lacken, Klebstoffen, Waschmitteln, Treibstoffen und in der Papierherstellung eingesetzt.

Verwendung als kosmetischer Inhaltsstoff

Benzisothiazolinone (INCI). Chem. Bezeichnung: 1,2-Benzisothiazol-3(2H)-on. Kosmetische Funktion: antimikrobiell.

Allergologie (Relevanz)

Benzisothiazolinon wird häufig zusammen mit /Chlor) Methyisothiazolinon (MI/MCI) in Farben eingestzt und besitzt auf Grund der Strukturähnlichkeit ein deutliches Sensibilisierungspotenzial. Beschrieben sind einige kontaktallergische Reaktionen bis hin zu einer schwereren hämatogenen Streuung, jedoch nahezu ausschließlich in berufsbezogenem Zusammenhang. Daneben ist auch eine haut- und augenreizende Wirkung bekannt und beschrieben. Beobachtet wurde zudem auch in einem Falle die Auslösung eines berufsbedingten Asthma bronchiale mit Rhinitis.
